A sneak peek at SilverRock-on the road to becoming the Valley's premier golf destination.  The latest luxurious amenity to grace the La Quinta landscape is beginning to take form.

 

Promising five-star hospitality, fine dining, shopping, recreation, entertainment and an Arnold Palmer-designed golf course, the La Quinta Redevelopment Agency-funded SilverRock Resort broke ground in January and will include a variety of community assets for residents, as well as a long list of tourist attractions.

 

Resident benefits denoted in the master plan include golf, pathways, scenic views, dramatic water features and public-use areas perfect for community events and individual respite.  Visitors to the 525-acre resort adjacent to the Santa Rosa Mountains will have access to two 18-hole championship golf courses, boutiques and five-star hotels, a spa, convention center and retail shopping.

 

"This really marks the development of one of the great golf properties in the Coachella Valley," said Mark Weiss, Assistant Executive Director of the La Quinta Redevelopment Agency.  "The impact this will have on the city of La Quinta, from both a financial perspective and in terms of quality of life, will be substantial.  Whether you're an avid golfer or not, this resort will have something that speaks to your interests."

 

Many of the landscape and public-use elements of the project are on schedule to begin construction during the next year.  Golfers also can start fine-tuning their drivers as the first five holes of the resort's Arnold Palmer signature golf course have already made the transformation from blueprints to greens.  Seeding is set to begin this summer, and the remaining holes of the 7,548-yard course are on track for early 2005 tee times.
