Bear Creek Trail
Bear Creek Trail travels south from Calle Tampico and Eisenhower. This almost five mile path offers wonderful views of the desert landscape. Many local artists have been inspired by the views from La Quinta. You can see some of their work as you walk, bike or hike this trail.
Cove Oasis Trailhead
The Cove Oasis Trailhead starts on Calle Tecate. There´s 114 acres of desert views, wildlife and open space to explore here. Break Creek Trail and Boo Hoff trail intersect the trailhead.
Fred Wolff Nature Preserve
Located off the Bear Creek Trail is The Fred Wolff Nature Preserve. Here you´ll find 20 acres of open space to hike and explore. You´ll often find arranged group hikes and educational hikes for children going through this Preserve.
Santa Rosa and San Jacinto Mountains
Near La Quinta you will find the breathtaking San Jacinto and Santa Rosa Mountains. Santa Rosa and San Jacinto Mountains National Monument was created in 2000 to preserve and protect these beautiful mountain ranges and the wildlife found within them. Hiking and exploring this monument, you can find some of the California deserts rarest wildlife. In addition to the natural resources you will find here, both mountains are of great cultural and historical importance to the Agua Caliente Band of Native Americans. Enjoy the natural and historic sites along the Santa Rosa and San Jacinto Mountains National Monument. It´s a must for La Quinta residents and visitors alike.
